I didn’t have much time or motivation to work on ChocoFlop bugs so I decided to fix something that has been annoying me for over a month: I was getting tired of getting so many user registration spam from the forum (the captcha in phpBB is totally inefficient it seems).

I hacked a little bit into the code. So now it’s easy to register on the forum again, no captcha, no admin validation. All you have to do is enter a special keyword, as asked on the registration form. This should block the standard spam engines and let my e-mail box rest in peace.

Time to use the forums again

As I said in the previous post, release 0.52 was made in a hurry with a version that was being worked on. This just fixes the biggest problems the code cleanup brought up.

Most notable is that now converting layers between modes works again and you can resize text layers again.

I can only urge you to update, if you downloaded 0.52.

Huh, it seems I had forgotten a little check that was supposed to make alpha version expire on January 1, 2007. Obviously I am still not out of development phase by now. I just released 0.52 to fix this right now. The problem is that there have been many changes under the hood and I didn’t have time to work on the problems this caused. So this version sis probably not more stable than the previous one.

But hey, at least you can run it!

Oustide from code clean up (which you might not care about) the biggest visible change is the new look and feel of the layers list. Yes it’s still upside-down in photoshop-thinking but you can now edit the title directly in the layer, click the button (that shows layer type) to open properties, and have a small preview.
